Foucault’s Knowledge and Power, The Power Walk

Type of power in my community

1) Power over others:

The RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) has power over all our community civilians. I see them as a great man to watch everyday our area and impose a heavy power for the civilians.

2) The power to realize desires or needs:

Today morning I felt bored because one of my friends went to London previous day and that’s why I felt lonely. I need his company.

3) Cooperative power:

Cooperative power exists in my family. In my family, my brother and his wife both are happy with their works and always connecting by the help of Allah. I think it will be better for their future as well as for my family because they live with my family.

4) Power of being:

I think power of being depends totally ones individual quality and how he/she manage or control the situation. For that, I realize one man for the example, who is my English Spoken teacher called S.K.Shafin Ahmed. He is gentle, polite and better stable for his family as well as for the students.

5) Impersonal power relations:

For that reason, the government takes impersonal power to the people. For example, the Telephone Bill has to be paid on time otherwise, the authority impose fine. So the governments impose at least exercising indirect power on us.

Denotation and Connotation

What are the denotative and connotative meanings of the ULAB logo?

First of all we need to understand what is Denotation and Connotation---------

Denotation: refers to the literal meaning of a word, the "dictionary definition."¨ For example, if you look up the word snake in a dictionary, you will discover that one of its denotative meanings is "any of numerous scaly, legless, sometimes venomous reptiles¡Khaving a long, tapering, cylindrical body and found in most tropical and temperate regions."

Connotation: on the other hand, refers to the associations that are connected to a certain word or the emotional suggestions related to that word. The connotative meanings of a word exist together with the denotative meanings. The connotations for the word snake could include evil or danger.(From Wikipedia)

The ULAB logo: In this logo the authority shows their performance and quality to attract the students and also the parents. University Of Liberal Arts Bangladesh(ULAB) in denotative meanings that i thought its an educational institution and its private university.

The connotative meanings of this logo i think that the yellow shades of logo represents the freedom of everyone's life. And deep blue color represents the scenery sights of Bangladesh.

At the last moment i would like to thanks for the ULAB authority to make such kind of logo that represent our culture and sovereignty.
